Hydrogen from the Black Sea

The presence of Hydrogen sulphide is one of the most well known and unusual properties of the Black Sea. But the surplus of hydrogen sulphide lies deep in the waters, in the oxygen-poor and lifeless bottom of the Black Sea. In fact, at depths from 200 meters to the bottom, only the hydrogen sulphide-producing bacteria survive. Indeed, there is no sea in the world as rich in hydrogen sulphide as the Black Sea.

The Black Sea is roughly 555,000 sq. km in surface area. By scientific calculations, the hydrosulphuric layer comprises 95 % of the sea, which equates to about 461,083,000 cubic meters of hydrogen sulphide. If we calculate the total tonnage using the absolute minimal concentration of 10 grams per cubic meter, it rounds off to  961,830,000 tons of hydrogen sulphide, almost a  billion tons. It’s necessary to consider that the hydrosulphuric layer constantly replenishes, indicating its sustainability for commercial processing. The decomposition of hydrogen sulphide and the subsequent burning  of  hydrogen turns out 14 times more effective. There are 58 kilograms of hydrogen in a ton of hydrogen sulphide. The amount of energy created from the combustion of 58 kilograms of hydrogen has been scientifically proven to equal the amount created from the combustion of 222 liters of gasoline. If we consider that in the Black Sea there is almost a billion tons of hydrogen sulphide, that is equivalent to 222 billion liters of gasoline. The meaning of this is monumental. For example, the Moscow Region spends 4.5 million tons of gasoline a year. Hence, the amount of hydrogen sulphide in the Black Sea can provide gas for a minimum of 49 thousand years! To this day, no one is involved with this type of energy project in the Black Sea. My company’s goal is to be the first.

Possible uses of hydrogen sulphide

The hydrogen sulphide in The Black Sea can be used towards furthering the interests of all inhabitants of Earth, and of Russia in particular. My Moscow-based company, “VIMIS”, was opened in January 2010 by myself, Gennadiy Bugrin the General Director, with the goal to capture hydrogen sulphide from the Black Sea and subsequently isolate hydrogen for use in energy production. “VIMIS” employs highly-skilled engineers and scientists who have performed research and experiments on the extraction and processing of hydrogen and sulfur from the division of hydrogen sulphide.

At the present time, nobody in the world has as effective technology as “VIMIS” for work on this type of project. “VIMIS” has the solution to a problem that at the current moment no one in the world is working on due to a lack of technology and research, and more likely because of a lack of knowledge of the opportunity the Black Sea has to offer towards providing new energy sources.

Currently hydrogen is being made from water by generators, which is very costly, the hydrogen that were going to produce costs 40% less than gas, and at the current moment hydrogen produced from generators is the same price as gas.

Hydrogen is already used in the world as a NON-POLLUTING fuel, which when combusted does not produce СО2 like natural gas and oil, but instead releases vapor into the air just like a tea kettle when water is boiled. In the USSR, automobile engines working on pure hydrogen and on ordinary fuel with small additives of hydrogen have been successfully tested. As trial runs have shown, an application of between 5 and 10 percent of hydrogen to gasoline leads to substantial increases in combustion efficiency (completeness of combustion) and in overall EFFICIENCY of the engine of 40 – 45 percent. Besides this, the levels of toxicity produced by exhaust fumes have been shown to decrease over 100 fold.

The consequence that may come as a result of possible damages to the cryogenic capacities during a road failure is that liquid hydrogen may spill out onto the road. However, due to its physical and in-storage properties it instantly evaporates, and the steam dissipates so quickly as to avoid catching fire. Thus, even in emergencies, no conditions for fuel burning or an explosion arise. At the same time it is known that as a result of damage during a road failure, conventional fuel can catch fire and lead to an explosion.

Hydrogen also opens new prospects in metallurgy as a replacement for coal in iron restoration. The harmful gases which are byproducts of metallurgical enterprises will disappear. The widespread adoption of hydrogen will favorably affect the world ecology by lowering harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

Step by step, I plan to convert power-intensive enterprises to hydrogen fuel. Even one thousand cars produce fewer C02 emissions into the atmosphere than the Magnitogorsk or New Lipetsk metallurgical industrial complexes. Therefore, my first goal is to convert the boiler-house of Novorossisk to a hydrogen fuel source. Furthermore, I plan to do the same with boiler-houses of other cities in the Black Sea region.

By scientific estimates, there are large quantities of gold and silver in the waters of the Black Sea. If one were to weigh all the silver, it would amount to 540 thousand tons, and the amount of gold would be 270 thousand tons. But due to the highly ineffective technologies available today, only Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania undertake the extraction of these precious metals from the Black Sea, and without a profit to show for it. After many years of research and development, “VIMIS” has created an effective, “passing” technology for the extraction of precious metals from the Black Sea that greatly accelerates the time for recovery of outlays. While extracting hydrogen sulphide from the Black Sea and dividing it into hydrogen and sulphide, we will also produce a minimum of 50 grams a day or gold and silver at the same time on the side without any additional labor or capital investments. Aside from precious metals, It will be possible to extract heavy water. There are many interested individuals and companies eager to buy. With a system designed for maximum capacity, it will be possible to extract up to a ton of heavy water each day. Given the current market price of $200-250 per liter of heavy  water, daily profits could range from $200,000 -250,000 just from heavy water alone!

THE EXPECTED INCOME & PROFIT

It is certainly obvious that this is an absolutely new development in power generation. Today in the USA, the cost of hydrogen fuel is almost on par with gasoline. If to take into account that the Moscow Region consumes 4,500,000 liters of gasoline a year, and the price of a liter of gasoline is about 20 rubles, then the money spent on gasoline in the Moscow Region amounts to 90,000,000 rubles, which is $3,000,000.

The income from heavy water that will be extracted daily from the Black Sea can be calculated at $200,000 – $250,000 a day (extracting 1000 liters and selling at the price of $200 – $250 per liter) .

Hydrogen and sulphide, the basic products of processing hydrogen sulphide, will be consumed both in the Russian market and outside of Russia as the world tries to solve the problem of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by converting power-intensive enterprises to be run on non-polluting, hydrogen fuel. The goal of reducing outlay recovery times of the project will depend directly on the organizing ability of the project head, Gennadiy Bugrin.

Considering that we sell hydrogen at half the cost of natural gas, and assuming that half of the enterprises of Russia convert their energy source to hydrogen fuel, we will generate income equal to 25% of the income of GAZPROM for a year.

“GAZPROM” generates $30 Billion a year in income, so hence our income from the sale of hydrogen fuel is estimated at $7,5 billion a year, conditional on the installation of a platform designed to operate at maximum capacity, and installed not earlier than July 2013г.

Nonconventional insight

On ecological & economic problems of the gas industry of Russia.

It is known that Russia has the largest stocks of gas of any country in the world.

However, the burning by mankind of large quantities of various kinds of fuel, including natural gas, for the last 40 years has led to appreciable increases in the presence of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The majority of scientists consider this as the reason for the global warming being observed now.

The benefits from raising hydrogen sulphide and extracting hydrogen:

1. Cheap, renewable, non-polluting energy for the future.

2. Sulphide, which can be applied to construction. Even in Poland builds highways with the application of sulphide, without speaking about England, France or America. For example, an asphalt covering with the addition of sulphide more adequately reacts to temperature changes in the summer and in the winter. (I have specific proposals)

3. Russia puts similar installations in the Ukraine, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Romania, and hands over control in the long-term.

4. At “amicable” processing of hydrogen sulphide, in some years The Black sea level will decreace, hence, the  level of the World Ocean will follow, then threat of floodings is liquidated , natural cataclysms of coastal cities will decrease.

5. Threat of explosion of Black sea is liquidated.

6. Industrial processing of hydrogen sulphide will allow to translate the next years the power-intensive enterprises on hydrogen for example the major factories that produce enourmous volumes of CO2 into the atmosphere.

7. On a way of hydrosulphuric water at lifting on a pipe it is possible to put some turbines which will develop cheap electric power.

8. And finally, In The Black sea the fauna will gradually be restored, there will be a fish and dolphins like there used to many years ago.
